The terms of service for both the Mediterranean Diet for Parkinson’s Nutrition Education Programme and the Gut Health for Parkinson’s Nutrition Education Programme and the individual gut programmes (Managing Constipation, Managing Gastroparesis, Managing Dysphagia) are shown below.

Mediterranean Diet for Parkinson’s Nutrition Education Programme (Mediterranean PD) Terms and Conditions

Please read the information below:

My Moves Matter has launched a new brand called Nutrition PD for our suite of nutrition education programmes to support people with Parkinson’s to live better with the condition through optimised nutrition.
The Mediterranean PD programme will be provided online in the Nutrition PD portal on the Practice Better platform.

The online nutrition education content in the Mediterranean PD programme is not a substitute for personalised advice by a Registered Dietitian. The content in the Mediterranean PD programme is not, and is not intended to be, medical or medical nutrition therapy (which should be tailored to your individual circumstances). The content in the Mediterranean PD Programme is for your information only. We advise that you use your own judgment before deciding to use the information provided.

The Mediterranean PD programme content has been developed by My Moves Matter CORU Registered Dietitians. In the videos, this content is delivered by an avatar.

The Mediterranean PD programme has a Chat Support where you can ask questions in relation to the content of the programme. It will be managed and overseen by My Moves Matter registered Dietitians who will respond within 24 hours of a question being posted. The My Moves Matter dietitians will be able to answer nutrition-related questions in a general way. They will not be able to provide personalised answers. Your username will be visible in the Chat Support facility, but you can choose to remain anonymous by using a preferred name. Note, this feature is only live once the preferred name has been requested and approved by our My Moves Matter Ltd team.

Please note, Mediterranean PD may not be suitable for everyone with Parkinson’s. Please read the following 3 points to ensure that you are suitable for Mediterranean PD.

The Mediterranean diet can lead to weight loss due to the healthier components of the diet being lower in calories. As a result, the Mediterranean PD Programme is not suitable for people with Parkinson’s who have unintentionally lost more than 5% of their weight over the past 3-6 months. Losing more than 5% of weight can mean that you are at risk of malnutrition. If you are at risk of malnutrition, we recommend that you see a dietitian. If you have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 18.5kg/m², it means that your BMI is in the underweight category. If this is the case for you and you have lost weight or strength recently, we also recommend that you do not sign up to Mediterranean PD and that you see a dietitian. If you have been diagnosed with Gastroparesis (otherwise known as slow stomach emptying) it is recommended that you do not sign up for Mediterranean PD and you see a dietitian for tailored dietary advice. If you think you have symptoms of slow gastric emptying it is also recommended that you discuss this with your neurologist or Parkinson’s nurse specialist, and seek an assessment with a gastroenterologist.

Some foods described in the videos and recipes may not be suitable if you have:

multiple food allergies/intolerances
gastrointestinal difficulties such as irritable bowel syndrome (diarrhoea type or mixed type)
gastro-oesophageal reflux
Crohn’s disease (while you are experiencing a flare)
ulcerative colitis (while you are experiencing a flare)
diverticulitis (while you are experiencing a flare)
been recommended to follow a low residue diet.

If you have any of the above conditions, you:

may access the content for education purposes
take responsibility that some of the content will not be advisable to implement
are advised to speak with a registered Dietitian to get personalised advice
should consult a GP or dietitian if you notice a worsening of your symptoms whilst implementing the changes discussed in the programme, and revert to your usual diet.

In order to proceed, My Moves Matter Ltd requires your consent to collect and process personal information you supply to communicate with you, as described in the My Moves Matter Privacy Policy.

Your access to and use of the Mediterranean PD programme is conditioned by your acceptance of and compliance with the terms outlined above. These terms apply to all visitors, users and others who access or use the Mediterranean PD programme.

Please note, Gut Health for Parkinson’s may not be suitable for everyone with Parkinson’s. Please read the following points to ensure that you are suitable for Gut Health for Parkinson’s.

If you have unintentionally lost more than 5% of your weight over the past 3-6 months. Losing more than 5% of weight can mean that you are at risk of malnutrition. If you have been have a gut condition that is currently inflammed such as inflammatory bowel disease (chrohn’s disease or ulcertative colitis) or diverticulitis there are specific recommendations to help reduce the inflammed state of these conditions and we do not recommend doing the Gut Health for Parkinson’s programme until these conditions are under control.
If you have coeliac disease and your tTg levels are raised and/or you have a lot of gut symptoms it is recommended that you see a dietitian for specific advice before starting this programme. If you have coeliac disease and your tTg levels are normal please be aware that any foods mentioned in the programme may not necessarily gluten free and you must ensure to choose gluten free versions.
Some foods described in the videos and recipes may not be suitable if you have:

It’s important to rule bowel cancer as a possible cause of the following symptoms:

Changes in your poo, such as having softer poo, diarrhoea or constipation that is not usual for you.
Needing to poo more or less often than usual for you.
Blood in your poo, which may look red or black.
Bleeding from your bottom.
Often feeling like you need to poo, even if you’ve just been to the toilet.
Tummy pain.
A lump in your tummy.
Bloating.
Losing weight without trying.
Feeling very tired or short of breath.

The statements below are related to common symptoms that may suggest ovarian cancer. If you are a woman and you are experiencing any of the following symptoms are persistent or frequent (particularly more than 12 times per month):

A swollen tummy or feeling bloated.
Pain or tenderness in your tummy or the area between the hips (pelvis).
No appetite or feeling full quickly after eating.
An urgent need to pee or needing to pee more often.

Some of the symptoms can be caused by different conditions including Parkinson’s. Having the symptoms does not definitely mean you have cancer. But it’s still important to get them checked by a doctor. This is because if they are caused by cancer, finding it early is important. We do not recommend proceeding with this programme until you have been reviewed and given the all clear by your doctor. Once you have been given the all clear by your doctor, you can undertake this programme at any stage.

We do not seek any health data from you, however, if you choose to share health data in the chat section of the programme (which will be visible to all other users in the programme), we will process that health data.

2. Website Usage Data

We use a monitoring application to collate and analyse certain statistical information about the use of this website. When you visit our website, the following information is retained about that visit:

your IP address;
your web browser type and version;
your operating system; and
a list of URLs starting with a referring site, your activity on our site and the site you exit to.

No attempt is made to identify individual users or to associate the technical details listed above with any individual.

3. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Practicebetter.io provides us with the online platform that allows us to provide our medical nutrition therapy services to you. Your data may be stored through practicebetter.io data storage, databases. Practice Better stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

Practice Better is an electronic practice management tool which stores health records, appointment information, and communication between practitioners and clients.

In addition to WIX.com and Practicebetter.io, we may use products and services provided by other third-party suppliers for certain functionality, including dietetic video programs, customer, and technical support management, and seeking user feedback. Where any such third-party supplier processes your data on our behalf, we will have a contract with them that includes appropriate obligations regarding their processing of your data.

5. Purposes of processing and legal bases

We will use personal data relating to you for the purpose of communicating with you following your registration on our website.

We rely on the legal basis of contractual necessity to process your personal data where this is necessary to perform our contract with you (these Terms) in connection with providing the My Moves Matter MediPD Programme service.

We rely on the legal basis of consent for the purpose of communicating with you following your registration on our website.

6. Recipients of Data

We will not disclose your personal data to other organisations except to third-party suppliers we engaged to process your data on our behalf (e.g. as outlined in sections 3 and 4 above) or as otherwise permitted or required by law (e.g. if we are obliged to do so in connection with an investigation being carried out by a law enforcement agency).

We will not hold your personal data for longer than is necessary. We retain your personal data for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this notice, or to comply with our obligations under applicable law and, if relevant, to deal with any claim or dispute that might arise between you and us.

In connection with the above, we may transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area, including to a jurisdiction which is not recognised by the European Commission as providing for an equivalent level of protection for personal data as is provided for in the European Union.
